Pawlu Mifsud

Paul was born on the 3 rd February 1946 at Zebbug and his parents were Mr Carmelo and Mrs Govanna Mifsud.

He started playing at a very young age which was 7 and since he could not reach the Billiard Table as Paul is made of a small stature he had to use a wooden box, but this did not prevail him from going around various Clubs on the Island to play Snooker together with his cousin Kola against opponents who on paper should have been much better, but even at that tender age you could tell that Paul was a great player as he proved in later years when he won both the World Snooker and Billiards Championships, a feat which definately is not easy task.

Paul started participating in Competitions purely by accident as when he was in San Gaetano Band Club playing he was approached and asked if he wanted to participate in the Boy's Championship which he won in Season 1960-1961. The rest is history.

When Paul was asked which are the most important moments in his life with regards to his great carrier , he declares that these are the Winning of the Billirads Championship and the Award of Gieh ir-Repubblika ( Medal of the Republic of Malta ) both in 1980 and also the winning of the Professional Tournament held in Malta, in which at that time also took part the well known Mr. Ray Reardon.
